Stampede Application Acceleration Series
Stampede Web 2.0 Performance Series

TechnologyConnection ManagementStampede's solutions manage network connections in several ways to optimize the flow of data and reduce the impact on the network, application servers and end users. First of all, the Stampede appliance maintains a consistent pool of connections between itself and the Web application servers. The application servers are then offloaded from managing the connections, and are isolated from inadvertent session disconnects. With Stampede's client technology, a persistent connection between the client and server (Stampede appliance) is always maintained, even when the browser may close and reopen a session. These sessions are also multiplexed across multiple connections, improving throughput and response time. This persistent connection capability is extremely important with the new wave of AJAX and Web 2.0 applications that are constantly opening and closing sessions as they poll and access various Web services. Stampede eliminates this potentially network intrusive overhead. Traditional TCP applications that use Winsock (TCP Layer 5) are sometimes overlooked with today's emphasis on Web based browser applications. Stampede's solutions, with our Advanced Winsock Layer 5 client, maintain persistent virtual connections between the client and server application. Should a network connection or session be abnormally disconnected, the Stampede appliance will maintain the session with the application server, and then re-establish the connection with the client when possible. Session affinity is maintained, and no data is lost by the end user. |
“Stampede is setting a de facto standard for optimized control of Domino data and associated Web acceleration throughout an enterprise. The business benefits are clear: improved reliability and speed of data replications over all levels of network connections, with the ability to conduct backups of huge caches of data types in minutes instead of hours.” Dana Gardner ![]() |
